For 30 years, F.A.M.E. has brought together young string players from a variety of cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds with harmony of interest, purpose, commitment, and community service to make incredible music far beyond their years.
Musical training and the study of string orchestra and chamber repertoire of the highest quality are offered to the students under the best professional supervision and care available. Opportunities are provided for advanced musical expression in a stimulating, supportive, and non-competitive atmosphere. Current members figure prominently in their school orchestras, as well as All County and All State festivals. Places of worship, schools, civic organizations, senior citizens, and other groups benefit from their individual and small ensemble performances fostered by the F.A.M.E. experience.
The orchestra serves the entire Baltimore metropolitan area, as well as the surrounding counties and southern Pennsylvania. It is open to students from grades 7 through 12 by audition and on a space-available basis. Auditions are held in September and January each year.
